HSCI: Department of Psychology MQRES PhD Scholarships

A Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship (MQRES) is available inthe Department of Psychology for a PhD investigating human visual motionperception in association with an Australian Research Council-funded researchproject. The successful candidate will join a research team investigatingvisual processing in beautiful Sydney, Australia: a city with a growingreputation as a centre for excellence in vision science.

MQRES scholarships are available to domestic or international students. Candidates should have (or be about to attain) research qualifications equivalent to anAustralian undergraduate degree with first class honours in ExperimentalPsychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, or a similar discipline.Applications will also be considered from a discipline such as Biology,Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or similar ifthe applicant has a strong interest in the scientific study of human visualperception. The successful candidate will apply psychophysical methods usingcustom-written computer programs, for which training and support will beavailable.

The scholarship pays a living allowance, (2010 stipend: $22,500 per annum, taxexempt), and the tenure is a maximum 3.5 years full time, subject to satisfactoryprogress. Tuition fees will be funded for the scholarship tenure. Additionalsupport for projects and travel will be available from the Faculty/Department.
